“Under part 2 of the infrastructure bill, upon death the entire value of your accumulated wealth and estate will be taxed at 61%.”
PolitiFact says: President Joe Biden proposed a 61% effective tax rate, but it would have applied only to very large estates, and it is not part of the budget bill now being debated in Congress.
“A YouTube series featuring Kamala Harris talking to kids about science uses paid child actors.”
“An image of empty grocery store shelves shows the effect of President Joe Biden's “Build Back Better” plan.”
“Buried in the infrastructure bill is a ~8 cent per mile driving tax.”
FactCheck.org says: The bill would create a voluntary pilot program to study per-mile user fees, not a tax. And there is no mention of any specific per-mile amount in the infrastructure bill.
“Photo shows hundreds of “sitting ships” waiting to dock at U.S. ports.”
PolitiFact says: The map, from MarineTraffic’s website, shows all the vessels transmitting their position. While some are sitting, the vast majority are in transit.
“Raising the debt limit is paying our old debts. It has nothing to do with new spending.”
PolitiFact says: New spending initiatives, such as the two bills Biden is currently backing in Congress, were not the immediate cause of the debt limit increase that Democrats in Congress enacted. But they aren’t entirely irrelevant.
“Says "the vast majority of the (refugees) coming into Fort McCoy are not the SIVs" and some have "no documentation at all.”
“A photo shows paleontologists in Greece discovering the skeleton of a giant.”
“A wind turbine “could never generate as much energy as was invested in building it.”
PolitiFact says: The text misquotes a section in a 2009 book. Most studies find that in less than two years, wind turbines produce more energy than it takes to build, run and decommission them.
“Instead of jabbing Americans ... with a dangerous shot which injects them with these spike proteins . . . guess what? I now have natural immunity and double the antibodies, and that's science.”
PolitiFact says: The shots aren't dangerous. They are safe and effective.
“It's been confirmed that the Pfizer” COVID-19 “vaccine isn't guaranteed after six months.”
PolitiFact says: Advocates have not promoted vaccines as guaranteed. A study found that the effectiveness of Pfizer’s vaccine in preventing infection decreased over time, but remained 90% effective in preventing hospitalization.
“No presidential candidate has ever lost an election while winning Florida, Ohio and a place called Iowa. First time it’s ever happened.”
Washington Post says: Richard M. Nixon, a Republican, won Florida, Ohio and Iowa in 1960 — and lost to John F. Kennedy, a Democrat.
“Paris police beat a woman for shopping at a mall with no vaccine passport.”
PolitiFact says: The two women shown in the TikTok video were not shoppers, but were among a large group of anti-vaccine protesters in Paris who forced their way into a mall that required proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test.
“Probably 60% or 70%” of West Virginia University students were already infected by the coronavirus before coming to campus this year.”
PolitiFact says: Estimating the percentage of college students who have previously been infected by the coronavirus basically boils down to a guess, since there is little comprehensive testing of who has antibodies to the virus.
“Fox News called Arizona for Joe Biden with Less Than 1 Percent of the Vote In”
“Joe Biden’s attorney general wants the FBI to go after parents for speaking out at school board meetings to protect kids from radical curriculum like critical race theory.”
PolitiFact says: Garland's memo says spirited debate is protected. It calls for meetings to focus on acts that go over the line to become actual threats.
“La estrella de baloncesto Bradley Beal dijo que “le gustaría una explicación” de por qué las personas que han recibido vacunas “se siguen enfermando de COVID".”
FactCheck.org says: Ninguna vacuna es 100% efectiva, pero los ensayos clínicos y las investigaciones muestran que las vacunas contra el COVID-19 son muy efectivas para prevenir enfermedades, particularmente enfermedades graves.
“Such a shame to see Terry McAuliffe indicate he will end Virginia’s routine election audits. … Virginia law requires voting machine audits. Not a surprise McAuliffe opposes audits.”
Washington Post says: McAuliffe signed the very law that Youngkin cites in his tweet.
