JD Vance, Republican vice presidential nominee

“Thanks to her [Vice President Kamala Harris'] open border, murders are up 81% in Springfield, Ohio.”

FactCheck.org rated this: Distorts the Facts

FactCheck.org says: There were nine murders in 2023. That’s an 80% increase from 2021 — but one fewer than the 10 murders in 2020, when Trump was president. There's no evidence that immigrants are responsible for committing murders.

Tony Perkins, Family Research Council president

“In 12 states, children born alive after a failed abortion have no legal protection, and in three more states children born alive after an abortion had legal rights that governors — like Tim Walz — repealed.”

PolitiFact rated this: False

PolitiFact says: Every person who is born has protections under federal and state laws. It’s illegal in every state to kill a baby after it’s born. The bill Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz approved in 2023 didn't remove these protections.
