9 checks for “Ron DeSantis”

Nikki Haley, Republican presidential candidate

“Ron [DeSantis], you are the chair of your economic development agency that, as of last week, said Florida is the ideal place for Chinese businesses.”

FactCheck.org rated this: Lacks Context

FactCheck.org says: The agency was abolished in May. Its report cited by Haley was about three years old and the fact that it was still available on the website doesn’t necessarily mean that it reflects the agency’s current goals.

Nikki Fried, Florida Commissioner of Agriculture and Consumer Services

“Gov. Ron DeSantis “signed a $1 billion tax increase on the people of our state, on our consumers, yet gave a $500 million tax break to our corporations.”

PolitiFact rated this: Mostly False

PolitiFact says: DeSantis signed an online sales tax bill that requires consumers to pay the tax even if the seller doesn’t have a store in Florida. But they were supposed to already pay it, and other states passed similar bills.
