Checked by PolitiFact11 Oct 2024United States Health

Ruben Gallego, Arizona Senate Democratic nominee

“Kari Lake "was willing to look at a mother and say, ‘I know your daughter was raped, but she does not have a right to an abortion.’ She was willing to say that just two years ago.”

PolitiFact rated this: Needs context

PolitiFact says: Gallego’s comments leave the impression that Lake said those words to the mother of a rape victim. She didn’t.

Kari Lake, U.S. Senate candidate

“Rep. Ruben Gallego is “controlled by the cartels. His own father was a Colombian drug trafficker, and so he’s got links to the cartel.”

PolitiFact rated this: Pants on Fire

PolitiFact says: Ruben Gallego's father was arrested for drug crimes when Gallego was a child. Gallego's father left the family when he was young and he said they have rarely spoken. There's no evidence Gallego has "links to the cartel."
