Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) officials have repeatedly cleared ABS-CBN of tax deficiencies in congressional hearings on the network's franchise renewal application in 2020. In July last year, BIR Assistant Commissioner Manuel Mapoy told the House Committee on Legislative Legislative Franchise that the media giant paid at least P15 billion worth of taxes from 2016 to 2019.
