“President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has an active warrant of arrest in the United States and owes a penalty of over USD 300 million.”
What Vera Files found
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and former first lady Imelda Marcos were fined USD 353.6 million (PhP 20.2 billion) in 1995 for refusing to pay reparations to victims of human rights violations under late dictator Ferdinand Marcos Sr. Once they set foot in the United States, the two can be served an arrest for their continued failure to pay the penalty. However, there is no confirmation that any warrant has been issued.
