PolitiFact says: Even if leaders decided they wanted to block Americans’ everyday purchases this way — and there’s no indication they do — current law would not allow it. Privacy-concerns Americans would likely balk, too.
“Anheuser-Busch CEO resigns” after Bud Light partners with transgender social media influencer Dylan Mulvaney.”
PolitiFact says: The claim that Anheuser-Busch’s CEO resigned originated from a satirical blog. Anheuser-Busch confirmed that the claim is false.
“The 5 states with the highest gun homicide rates in the nation all have loose gun laws” while “the 5 states with the lowest rates have some of the toughest laws.”
PolitiFact says: Data shows some correlation between looser gun laws and higher gun homicide rates in a state, and vice versa. But that relationship does not always hold true.
“When migrants arrived on Martha’s Vineyard, “They called out the National Guard and deported them within 24 hours.”
PolitiFact says: A group of about 50 migrants who arrived on Martha’s Vineyard in September was relocated within days to a military base on nearby Cape Cod. They were not removed from the United States.
“Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg “has downgraded over 50% of the felonies to misdemeanors.”
PolitiFact says: In 2022, Bragg's staff downgraded 52% of felonies that were screened to misdemeanors, an increase from prior years, though this is a common practice in other New York City boroughs.
“A doctor tweeted that she doesn’t regret giving the COVID-19 vaccine, “even if it turns out I injected you with actual poison and you only have days to live.”
PolitiFact says: The tweet is fake. A similar fake tweet attributed to the same doctor went viral in January and was debunked by multiple news outlets.
“A video shows Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis saying, “Now Trump’s been indicted, now the people will have no choice but to accept me as their assigned candidate.”
PolitiFact says: DeSantis has not announced that he’s running for president in 2024. This is a deepfake video that was first shared as a joke by a pro-Donald Trump social media account.
“Florida man charged with a hate crime” for defacing pride crosswalk”
PolitiFact says: Florida man who defaced Delray Beach pride crosswalk in 2021 was arrested on charges that included a hate crime, but it wasn’t formally charged by prosecutors.
“Pouring soda on raw pork will cause parasites to emerge.”
PolitiFact says: It's a myth that pouring soda on raw pork will cause parasites to emerge. Trichinella parasites found in raw or undercooked meat are microscopic and cannot be seen with the naked eye.
“U.S. public schools don't teach the Declaration of Independence.”
PolitiFact says: State educational standards that dictate what students learn in schools across the country require that kids be taught the Declaration of Independence.
“In the next two years, we'll spend more on interest on our national debt than we do on the national defense.”
PolitiFact says: The most recent Congressional Budget Office projection, from February 2023, shows that net interest on the national debt is projected to exceed defense spending starting in fiscal year 2029, but not in the next two years
“President Trump is officially a political prisoner.”
PolitiFact says: There’s no universally accepted definition of "political prisoner," but human rights and international law experts told PolitiFact that they would not classify Trump, who was not detained, a political prisoner.
“As president, I have the right to declassify documents, and the process is automatic. If I take them with me, it’s automatic. Declassified.”
PolitiFact says: Presidents do have an unusual degree of authority to declassify documents, but formal follow-through is required.
“Regarding Trump’s January 2021 telephone call with Georgia election officials, “nobody found anything wrong with that perfect call until a book promotion tour many months later.”
PolitiFact says: Multiple politicians promptly criticized Trump’s phone call and the Fulton County District Attorney launched an investigation weeks later.
“White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre was involved in a covered-up DUI accident.”
PolitiFact says: The White House told PolitiFact that the claims are fabricated. Washington, D.C.’s Metropolitan Police Department said it has no record of the alleged incident.
“Joe Biden received a military funeral service Jan. 20, 2021”
PolitiFact says: President Joe Biden is alive. There is no evidence that he received a military funeral service the day he was inaugurated in 2021.
“Solar companies “have to give solar panels away for completely no net cost.”
PolitiFact says: The federal government does not require solar companies to give away solar panels.
“Sullivan County “has the highest opioid death rate in all of New York state” yet “it’s the only county in the Hudson Valley not included in the federal High-Intensity Drug Trafficking Area” program.”
PolitiFact says: Sullivan County, N.Y., leads the state in opioid death rate, but the federal government does not consider it to be part of its High-Intensity Drug Trafficking Area.
“Video clip shows that protesters in Tennessee “made their way onto the state capitol floor.”
PolitiFact says: The video doesn’t show unauthorized protesters on the House floor. It shows three Democratic legislators who took over the lectern and led chants echoed by protesters who had gathered in the public viewing galleries.
