“George H.W. Bush took millions of documents to a former bowling alley and a former Chinese restaurant where they combined them. ... By contrast, I had a small number of boxes and storage at Mar-a-Lago, very small, relatively guarded by the great Secret Service.”

PolitiFact rated this: Not comparable to Mar-a-Lago

PolitiFact says: Presidential papers often are taken to large, repurposed facilities, where they remain for years to allow for sorting and cataloging. Bush's paper sorting was done with the full participation of the National Archives.

Donald Trump, Former U.S. president

“I ended [Nord Stream 2]," a pipeline that sends gas from Russia to Germany. "Can you imagine? [President Joe] Biden came in and he opened up the pipeline.”

FactCheck.org rated this: False

FactCheck.org says: Construction of the pipeline was suspended in response to sanctions contained in legislation that Trump signed, but it started up again in December 2020, while Trump was still in office.

“Trump "had a “standing order … that documents removed from the Oval Office and taken to the [Mar-a-Lago] residence were deemed to be declassified the moment he removed them.”

FactCheck.org rated this: Disputed

FactCheck.org says: Numerous experts on national security and the law surrounding classified documents say that isn't plausible. There is a process for declassifying information, and it doesn't appear Trump followed that process.

Donald Trump, former president

“What is the difference between this and Watergate, where operatives broke into the Democrat(ic) National Committee? Here, in reverse, Democrats broke into the home of the 45th President of the United States.”

PolitiFact rated this: One was legal, one wasn't

PolitiFact says: The Watergate was illegal, while the search of Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home would have received formal approval from a federal judge.
