“When California faced a budget crisis," Christy Smith "voted to lay off teachers and then voted to increase her pay.”

PolitiFact rated this: Mostly False

PolitiFact says: As a member of the Newhall School Board, Smith voted in 2012 to lay off teachers and in 2013 to notify teachers of possible layoffs. She also voted soon after those moves to rehire for nearly all of the positions.

Social media posts

“Prior to 1983, social security was not taxable. Joe Biden voted successfully in favor of taxing 50% of social security. In 1993, Joe Biden was the deciding vote in raising taxes on social security from 50% to 85%. Now he wants to tax our 401k's and IRA's.”

FactCheck.org rated this: Misleading

FactCheck.org says: Posts suggest that Joe Biden is responsible for taxes on Social Security, but those posts ignore the political history and mislead on the details. The posts also twist Biden’s proposals on retirement contributions.
