Batay sa state of the nation address noong Enero 1948 ng presidente Manuel Roxas, mayroon nang Manila International Airport (MIA) noong panahong iyon. Iyon ay 17 taon bago naging pangulo si Marcos noong 1965. Ang paliparan ay dating U.S. Air Force base hanggang sa naibalik ang pasilidad noong 1948 sa National Airport Corporation ng gobyerno ng Pilipinas, ayon sa opisyal na website ng Manila International Airport Authority.
