In December 2017, citing rule 7 (7) and 7(8) of Cable Television Rules, 1994, the Government advised all the television channels to telecast the condom advertisements only between 10 PM and 6 AM. The advisory further states that the decision is taken since these ads are for a particular age group, and viewing by children could be indecent/inappropriate. However, social media users are sharing this news of partial ban as a recent phenomenon
