PolitiFact
PolitiFact is a United States fact-checking site run by the Poynter Institute. It rates claims by politicians and viral posts on its Truth-O-Meter, from True to Pants on Fire.
“If you count the legal votes, I easily win. If you count the illegal votes, they can try to steal the election from us.”
PolitiFact says: A few states with close races continue the legal process of counting mail ballots. As in every election, some will be rejected for missing signatures or other issues, but that’s not evidence of election stealing plots.
“If you were forced to use a Sharpie” to fill out your ballot, “that is voter fraud.”
PolitiFact says: There is no evidence that elections officials used Sharpies to invalidate ballots.
“In Iowa, "they have allowed a little over 300 people to re-vote.”
PolitiFact says: A clerical error was made in the initial vote report on election night but no voter fraud existed, election officials said. There is no evidence to suggest anyone 're-voted.'
“It's amazing how all those mail-in ballots are so one-sided.”
PolitiFact says: Trump has been railing against mail ballots for months. His supporters followed his advice and largely voted in person.
“Joe Biden was called for Michigan even though Donald Trump won more votes.”
“More mail-in ballots were counted in Lancaster County, Pa., than were returned.”
“More poll workers caught filling out ballots in Delaware County Pennsylvania.”
“Philadelphia is “clouding the vote counting in a shroud of darkness.”
“Republicans in Nevada found “at least 3,062 instances of voter fraud. ... Thousands of individuals have been identified who appear to have violated the law by casting ballots after they moved from NV.”
PolitiFact says: The burden of proof is on the speaker making the claim. The information released so far by Trump’s team does not confirm their claim.
“The logo of a porn website appeared during a CNN broadcast.”
“The Trump administration put secret watermarks on official ballots to trick cheating Democrats.”
PolitiFact says: The federal government has no role in printing ballots or in the on-the-ground mechanics of elections. The responsibility lies with state and local governments.
“Video shows a poll worker committing voter fraud in Delaware County, Pa.”
“West Virginia is near last in the U.S.” rankings of education, clean drinking water, and child mortality.”
PolitiFact says: Statement is correct for drinking water and child mortality, and for K-12 standardized test scores, though graduation rates are high.
“118-year-old William Bradley voted via an absentee ballot in Wayne County, Michigan this year. William died in 1984. They’re trying to steal this election.”
PolitiFact says: A city elections official said that a ballot was not cast on behalf of the elder Bradley, but when the alive Bradley voted officials made a clerical error in recording the ballot.
“40,000+ votes for Libertarian candidate Jo Jorgensen magically become votes for Joe Biden.”
PolitiFact says: The claim is not supported by official data reported by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
“Detroit has “2,503 dead people registered” including “one voter born in 1823.”
PolitiFact says: A group sued Detroit elections officials in December alleging that they failed to maintain accurate voter rolls. But the group dropped their suit in June after they were satisfied with actions taken.
“Left-leaning activists are planning a coup.”
PolitiFact says: Many of the individuals featured are involved in activist organizations, but we couldn’t find evidence that they are planning a coup to take over whole cities, rather planning on how to respond to a coup.
“Say a video shows “staffers stuffing ballots in flint mi”
PolitiFact says: A video purportedly showing ballot-stuffing in Flint, Mich., is not from any Flint polling place. It was shot in Russia. The video was published in a Washington Post news article in 2018.
