Ted Cruz, U.S. Senator, R-Texas

“In 2013, under a Democratic Senate, "a majority of the Senate voted in favor of" gun-related legislation sponsored by Republican Sens. Chuck Grassley and Ted Cruz, “but the Democrats filibustered it.”

PolitiFact rated this: Half True

PolitiFact says: Democrats did set a supermajority threshold, but only after Republicans pledged to filibuster the underlying bill, and Republicans unanimously agreed to the voting plan.

Ted Cruz, Senator (R-Tex.)

“At a Senate hearing in May, Dr. Fauci said, ‘The NIH has not ever and does not now fund gain-of-function research in the Wuhan Institute of Virology.’ That was under oath, under testimony. On October 20th, the NIH principal deputy director in writing directly contradicted it.”

Washington Post rated this: Two Pinocchios

Washington Post says: Cruz is spinning an NIH letter as confirming what it does not say. He is welcome to offer an opinion about its meaning. But, so far, it’s not a fact that NIH has admitted funding gain-of-function research.

Ted Cruz, U.S. Senator, R-Texas

“Said Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and her allies “blocked a resolution condemning anti-Semitism — which I passed unanimously in the Senate.”

PolitiFact rated this: Mostly False

PolitiFact says: Ocasio-Cortez opposed the initial draft of a House resolution, saying it ignored bigotry other than anti-Semitism. She voted for a revised resolution that added condemnations, and it passed by a wide margin.
