“The visuals show protests against the new UGC Rules, 2026.”
Social media posts Claim dated 28 Jan 2026.

What FACTLY found

These viral visuals do not show protests against the new UGC Rules. The first video clip shows a protest held by Congress workers in the Durg district in May 2025 regarding the implementation of the MNREGA scheme. The second video clip shows a candle march held in Delhi in December 2024 against the implementation of normalisation in the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) examination. While protests against the new UGC Rules were indeed held, these videos are unrelated.
