Ron Johnson
U.S. Sen.. 43 claims checked by other fact-checking organisations, from 2019 to 2024. The ratings are theirs, in their own words.
“Every Senate Democrat has voted to support unlimited abortions up to the moment of birth.”
“Democrats have also used alternate slates of electors "repeatedly in all kinds of different states.”
“The COVID vaccine “has been proven to have negative efficacy.”
“And now because of more information that’s come out, we know that he [Secretary of State Antony Blinken] lied boldface to Congress about never emailing Hunter Biden.”
FactCheck.org says: The two emails cited as proof of Blinken’s deceit were exchanges of pleasantries related to the very meeting Blinken discussed in his December 2020 testimony.
“Says Social Security is a “legal Ponzi scheme.”
“Days after the 2016 deadly shooting of Dallas police officers, "Mandela Barnes ... rationalized violence against American police officers.”
FactCheck.org says: The ad ignores that Barnes said the killings were “not justified in any way” and that he “denounced” the attack.
“To call what happened on January 6 an armed insurrection, I just think is not accurate.”
“Says Mandela Barnes “supported a 20% increase in the gas tax.”
“Democratic Senate candidate Mandela Barnes wants to "double your income taxes.”
FactCheck.org says: Barnes says he wants to cut "middle-class" taxes and make sure the wealthy "pay their fair share."
“Democrats' radical green energy policies caused record gas prices.”
“Last year the IRS audited Americans earning less than $25,000 a year at five times the rate of other groups.”
“Thanks to failed Dem policies, beer is 9.1% more expensive.”
“$5,000 a year" is "the burden of Joe Biden’s inflation tax on Wisconsin families.”
FactCheck.org says: That's an estimate for how much more a U.S. household, on average, would have to spend for the same basket of goods in 2022, compared with last year, due to inflation. There's no breakdown by various inflation causes.
“4,000 percent increase in fentanyl" under President Biden on the southern border.”
FactCheck.org says: That was a three-year increase in fentanyl seized between legal ports of entry in the El Paso sector of the border with Mexico. The increase under Biden is 70% when factoring in all seizures at the southern border.
“In the immediate wake of a fire and vandalism at the Madison headquarters of an anti-abortion group, Democrats had not condemned “activists who are engaging in this repugnant illegal activity.”
“I get accused of talking about something I’d never even heard of. Okay. I don’t think I’ve ever even said the word. And I’m not going to say it now. … About this theory, all I’ve ever done is parroted exactly what Democrats have said about this.”
Washington Post says: His evodence does not say what he claims
“Gas prices are high “due to the Democrats’ war on fossil fuels.”
“Federal border officials are allowing undocumented immigrants who are “known criminals who possess an arrest warrant to fly on U.S. aircraft (which) threatens our homeland security.”
“Of course, we’ve heard story after story. I mean, all these athletes dropping dead on the field, but we’re supposed to ignore that.”
Washington Post says: This claim has been repeatedly debunked.
